Swine feed additives and water solutions, from weaning to finishing

From piglet to finisher, and the sow: each stage has its own challenges, from the feed mill to the farm. Here is what is at stake at each step and the platforms that answer it, in the feed or through the water.

Which feed additives for pigs, stage by stage?

Each stage links to the page that explains it and to the pages of the platforms concerned.

  1. At the mill: sound, stable feed

Mycotoxins such as DON or zearalenone, moulds in storage, fats turning rancid: pig feed quality is decided before delivery.

    Mycotoxins in feed →

  2. Piglet weaning

New feed, a stomach not yet acid enough, intake that drops: weaning is prepared in the creep feed, with acids, butyrate, flavours and a sweetener.

Piglet weaning →Weaning without zinc oxide →

  3. Growing and finishing

Getting the most from the feed up to slaughter: fat digestion, gut balance, steady intake.

    Growth and feed conversion →

  4. Drinking water

Acidify the water, supply vitamins and electrolytes over a few days: water follows the animal when it needs it.

Drinking water →Diarrhoea on the farm →

  5. Heat waves

When it is hot, pigs eat less: betaine in the feed, electrolytes through the water.

    Heat stress →

  6. Housing

Ammonia and odours are worked on in the feed; floor moisture, with a drying agent.

    Litter and ammonia →

Frequently asked questions

Where to start at weaning?

With the creep feed: its acid-binding capacity, its palatability and its digestibility. Drinking water supports the first days.

How do I choose the right grade?

It depends on the stage, the formula and the process. Describe your situation: we propose a grade, a rate and a way to use it.
