Linkaresp: essential oils for drinking water, respiratory comfort when the heat rises

The problem

When the heat rises, everything goes through breathing

A bird does not sweat: to shed heat, it pants. A pig barely sweats either. As temperature rises, breathing becomes the main way to cool down, just when the air in the house is often at its heaviest: dust, ammonia from wet litter, air that moves poorly.

The animal eats less, drinks more, and its comfort suffers. Ventilation, misting, stocking density and dry litter remain the first levers; drinking water is one more, available at once.

The principle

Formulated to disperse in water

Aromatic oils do not mix with water: on their own, they rise to the top of the tank or settle in the pipes.

  1. Dispersed. The formula is designed to disperse the flavouring substances in water.
  2. Drunk. They reach the animal with the water, the route that stays open when appetite drops.
  3. Perceived.Their volatile compounds reach the animal when heat and dust weigh on its comfort.
  4. At the right time.Start the day before a forecast heat episode, and cover it.

Breathing and house climate

Respiratory problems in poultry: what comes from the house climate, what calls the veterinarian

A bird panting in the heat, sneezing in the dust or struggling with ammonia from wet litter: these signs come first from the house climate. They are worked on through ventilation, stocking density, litter and water, and that is where Linkaresp fits, for the animals’ respiratory comfort through the episode.

A respiratory disease is another matter: a persistent cough, discharge, a sudden fall in intake or lay, rising losses call for the veterinarian and a diagnosis. Linkaresp is not an answer to it.

Linker products are additives and supplements for feed and drinking water, used within a farm’s programme.

Pigs and dairy cows follow the same logic: hot periods and dusty houses are the times to use it. Heat is prepared before the wave hits: see heat stress in poultry and pigs.

How to use

Start the day before, cover the episode

Start the day before a forecast heatwave, then cover the episode for a few days. Make up the stock solution on the day of use, in a clean tank; the amount of product depends on the day’s water intake, which rises with the heat, and on the dosing pump’s injection rate.

Linkaresp is one of our drinking water supplements. Over the same period, vitamins go through Linkastim.

  • Never in the same water as a live vaccine: flush the line, vaccinate, then resume.
  • With another product in the water: check compatibility before combining them; when in doubt, separate them in time.
  • Storage: 2 years, in original packaging, at a moderate, stable temperature, away from light and air moisture.

Frequently asked questions

Can I put eucalyptus oil in chicken water?

Not as it is: a pure essential oil does not mix with water. It floats in the tank, settles in the pipes and does not reach the birds evenly. Linkaresp is formulated to disperse its flavouring substances in the drinking water.

When should Linkaresp be started?

The day before a forecast heatwave, then through the episode, for a few days. The table gives the reference rates; we fine-tune the duration with you according to species and your house.

What does Linkaresp do for the birds’ breathing?

Linkaresp supports the birds’ respiratory comfort when heat and dust weigh on them. Its flavouring substances are formulated to disperse in the drinking water and reach the birds as they drink.
