  • The whole yeast cell wall

Mannans (MOS) and beta-glucans kept together, as the yeast made them.

  • Acids for the pH

Organic and mineral acids lower the pH of the water and upper gut.

Linkamune: inactivated yeast and acids for drinking water

An inactivated Saccharomyces cerevisiae yeast, supplied whole, combined with acids, as a liquid suspension for poultry and pig drinking water. To act through the water, on one flock, over the few days when the digestive tract has to adapt. Beyond digestive security, it helps support the animal’s natural defences.

Form
Opaque brown liquid, suspension
Species
Poultry (broilers, layers), pigs
Use
In drinking water, in short, repeated courses
Packs
1 L bottle, 5 L and 20 L cans

The problem

Placement, weaning, transport: the gut takes the strain

Chick placement, a change of feed, piglet weaning, transport, mixing groups: at each of these moments the digestive tract has to adapt fast, to a new feed, new water, a new group. The balance of the gut flora and the state of the gut lining are settled within a few days.

Feed does not change overnight; water does. It is the route for bringing ingredients that support this period to a single flock, at the right time.

The principle

Two actions in one liquid

Acids for pH, a whole inactivated yeast for the digestive tract.

  1. The acids lower the pH.The acids lower the pH of the water and of the upper digestive tract.
  2. The yeast acts physically.Supplied whole, the inactivated yeast keeps its wall, rich in mannans and beta-glucans: it acts physically in the digestive tract and serves as a fermentation substrate for the desired flora.
  3. The yeast stays whole. It is supplied whole, rather than reduced to a purified fraction.

Beta-glucans and MOS in poultry: what the inactivated yeast brings

The cell wall of the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae is made mostly of two families of complex sugars: beta-glucans, its framework, and mannans, its outer layer, often referred to as MOS (mannan-oligosaccharides). Beta-glucans and MOS in poultry and pig feed are among the most studied ingredients in animal nutrition, for their interactions with the gut flora and lining.

In the feed, beta-glucans and MOS are used continuously. Linkamune brings them through the drinking water, with the whole inactivated yeast that carries them, for courses of a few days, repeated, on a chosen flock at a chosen time.

Linkamune is not a live yeast: it is an inactivated yeast, supplied whole with acids. Is yeast good for chickens? Inactivated yeast is a common ingredient in poultry nutrition; what makes the difference is the form in which it is given and the timing.

At chick placement, see broiler brooding, the first week; for water at the right pH, Linkacid Prime L.

How to use

Shake, prepare, store

Linkamune is a suspension: shake the can before each use. Make up the stock solution on the day of use, in a clean tank; the amount of product depends on the day’s water intake and on the dosing pump’s injection rate. Linkamune is one of our drinking water supplements.

  • Never in the same water as a live vaccine: flush the line, vaccinate, then resume.
  • With a water acidifier: Linkamune lowers the pH too; if both go into the same water, reset the rate and check the pH at the end of the line.
  • With another product in the water: check compatibility before combining them; when in doubt, separate them in time.
  • Storage: 24 months, cool, dry and away from light; close tightly.

Frequently asked questions

What is an inactivated yeast?

It is a yeast whose cells are no longer alive, supplied whole, with its wall, made mostly of beta-glucans and mannans. In Linkamune it is a Saccharomyces cerevisiae yeast, combined with acids.

What are the uses of beta-glucan in poultry, and how do they differ from MOS?

Beta-glucans form the framework of the wall; mannans, or MOS, form its outer layer. Both are studied for their interactions with the gut flora and lining. A yeast supplied whole provides the two together, where a purified fraction often supplies only one.

Is Linkamune a probiotic?

No. A probiotic supplies live micro-organisms. Linkamune supplies an inactivated yeast, with acids.

Can Linkamune be given during vaccination?

No: never in the same water as a live vaccine. Flush the line, vaccinate as your veterinarian instructs, then resume.
